How do I clean out the drawers of an old chest of drawers?
I have an old wicker chest of drawers that has been sitting in an out building. It is still in good shape but mice have had their families living in there apparently. Is there a way I can I clean out the droppings so that I can safely use the chest inside? If not then use outside for a potting table or something?

Thanks everyone for all you advice I'm going to try them until the stink is gone!
Damp paper towel should pick up everything. I use a spray of cinnamon & peppermint oil to keep mice out of areas, works great.
Be careful when cleaning up after the mice as they can leave a disease behind. Use vinyl gloves and try not to breathe in too much while cleaning or use a mask. Do not use your vacuum for this or the problem could blow out the vacuum exhaust and spread. Wash down with warm water and bleach to kill off any bacteria and let dry thoroughly before using.
Plain old white vinegar will work. Set out in the sun for a few days too. Lightly sand the inside of the drawers. Use Murphy's Oil Soap for the rest of unit.
Wear a mask and plastic gloves to start with and contain the nest contents as best as you can, putting it immediately into a trash bag. You don't want to bring any of this inside your home, so do not use the vacuum clean to pick up any residual particles.
To clean it use soap and water with bleach, rinse well and let it air dry.
Thank you all. Summer project!
