How to remove stubborn soap scum from a shower?
My hubby is adament that he has to use bar soap, sooooo we have THE most stubborn soap scum on his shower. I tried three different commercial cleaners (I nearly fell out from the toxic cloud over the shower!) and lots of elbow grease all to no avail. Any suggestions?

Is it on the glass or other? If it’s glass I’m suspicious the glass is etched. It happens just like to your drinking glasses in the dishwashers. Minerals in the water do it. Permanently scratch it. Every couple years I replace my drinking glasses. I just bought a new glass divider for my shower. I would have loved to get the clear glass that’s popular but I got a textured design one simply to hide any future etching. My emergency go to is The Works (thin original one) toilet bowl cleaner. Others have used another kind too. Test it in a small area too. Wear gloves and do one area at a time. That stuff will melt carpet. However it removed fluorescent spray paint off exterior brick of my home courtesy of my preschooler. I use it on tile grout too. Only thing that worked.
mr. clean magic eraser! It works so well on soap scum
Thanks, Kelly. It's not on the glass, that seems easily removed, it is on the shower surround itself (some type of formica or something?). I'll try The Workx. Thanks!
Cut a grapefruit in half, cover with kosher salt and use as a scrubber.
Lysol Power Scum cleaner in the blue trigger spray bottle with a Magic Eraser or a scrub brush.
Wet & forget shower for a slower, no scrub solution. You can use 2x a week to accelerate the cleaning process then once a week to keep it clean.
After you get it clean, get a water softener, and ion exchange unit that regenerates with salt. The "black boxes" with wires are worthless. Once you do that, squeegee the glass after every use. Stays perfectly.
To clean you MUST use an acid based cleaner. As I have soft water, I do not know brands to suggest.
Plain old white vinegar. Plus it is really inexpensive.
