How to use solar to heat a greenhouse?

Question

Is it possible to use a solar panel to heat a greenhouse somehow?  I would like to purchase an 8 x 10 kit and am wondering if it is possible to heat one using solar energy?

Jackie, that sounds like a great idea to me! I just watched a Chip and Joana show where they put up solar panels on the back side of a roof, and the panels would produce enough power for a new HVAC system for a whole house. In order for the panels to heat a greenhouse, you would have to have the solar system (!) connected to an electric heater and a thermostat. Without the connection, you may as well use clear glass which will allow as much heat from the winter sun into the greenhouse as possible. A small greenhouse should not need more than two panels. Solar panels produce DC voltage. You would need auto batteries to store the DC voltage. You would also need and inverter to convert the DC voltage to AC voltage to run the heater. BUT....you can build a solar heater
