My sofa has started wearing off. I believe it was faux leather and it has started peeling off. Pls see the pictures and suggest the following:

Duct tape comes in many colors. Try putting a piece upside down inside the area that’s peeling off and another on the outside overlapping that area. Then invest in or make sofa covers. Pet covers might be the best / easiest / cheapest choice.

Search on line for ways to reupholster furniture. Some people have had great results with fabric they glue on.

Use craft paint for a DIY quick fix. There is really no way to repair it to look good as new without a full-blown reupholstering job. But you can easily camouflage the damage by applying glue around the edges of the damage to seal the loose edges (carefully snip off the loose pieces first). Then take a piece of the "leather" to a craft store and buy a bottle of acrylic craft paint (about a dollar) that closely matches the color as well as the glossier finish of the sofa material. Keep the brush a little wet as you dip the brush in the paint, and build up thin coats for better coverage. Allow to dry between coats. Paint up to the edge of the damaged area only. Good luck!

"Sure fit" has an excellent variety of upholstery covers. I cover mine as soon as I get new furniture. Easy to wash and looks good. I even have set of spare covers. This extends the life of my couches.

Do a search for 'Visible Mending' for furniture. The new trend is to enjoy imperfections and enhance boo-boo's with an artsy addition. You can mix or match a piece of upholstery fabric to the areas. You can use fabric glue, then add some stitching to embellish, with upholstery needles and coat thread.

I've tried everything and then I just bought a good cover and my problems were over. They come in excellent fabrics and a variety of shades.dont patch it...it will look tacky.

Amazing the selection of slip covers to choose from now. I got mine from amazon.com and love it. Easier to replace a slip cover than a couch.

I had a chair like this. Used paint for upholstery from an auto supply store. Looks like new. 4 years since I did the chair. Only concern would be peeling of current sofa. If you can secure edges, I'd definitely paint it. Comes in a spray.

I cut the leather off the back of my sofa thats against the wall that nobody sees and of course its a perfect match. I just glued it on with leather glue from the hardware store.
