A damp microfiber cloth should produce a streak free finish. Don’t do on a hot, sunny day. I prefer SuperCloth and use it for glass, screens, and appliances. It is similar to the cloth you receive with glasses/sunglasses. It was well worth the investment. They were under $40 for 4 of them about 5 years ago.
Yes, it’s the cloths and the application method. Start at the top, fold over & rotate the cloth, once it’s showing dirt.
If outside, wipe down the sills & casing first, with a sponge & bucket of mild soapy water. Hand dry with rags.

1 cup white vinegar
1 1/2 cup alcohol
2 drops dish soap
Spray bottle
For best results use a good microfiber cloth to apply and another to dry.
