Chalk paint is really easy and you can make it yourself with leftover paint!

Paint or stain? If it's wood and stain you could just find a matching stain and fill in scratches if they aren't too bad. Or strip, sand and restain. Hardware stores have real small cans of stain. Buy a few you think are close, match label to table and return unopened cans. Good luck

You can paint it with chalk paint and stencil it on top of the paint with some really nice stencils from cuttingedgestencils dot com. If you go check out there website you will definitely get inspired to what you want to achieve.

Sand it down, clean with denatured alcohol, then stain to match (the hardest part will be matching up). Since it is scratched on top, I would recommend during 3 coats of a poly finish to protect it in the future. Between each coat, scuff the finish lightly with fine steel wool so the next coat will adhere with no cloudy residue. After you scuff, wipe down and clean then brush on the next coat.

I guess you have already tried Old English Furniture polish. It is good to hide scratches and marks on the table without refinishing. Also there are a lot of products out there th try before trying to paint it the same color.
