What is the best paint for a milk can?

The best paint for milk cans would be rustoleum brand,,,it took 2 coats for the last one.

I had one that was completely rusted. I sanded it down with a 220 grit sand sponge to take most of the loose rust off. Then used black matte rusoleum spray - two coats. Works like a charm. Sorry the afterpix didn't show the entire can but instead of painting the picture on since I am really awfulat that kind of thing. I bought a window type cling. The only thing I don't like about it is that you can see it's not painted on. May try something else now that the weather is warming up again.

RustOleum is always my "go to" for anything metal.

If it doesn't have rust, scuff with fine steel wool then clean with denatured alcohol. Then you are ready to paint.

If rust is present, use a stiff wire brush to remove rust, sand if needed, then steel wool, alcohol, and paint.

You can add a graphic or stencil a design on it as well.

I'd use rustoleum primer and paint after you brush all the loose bits off.
