You can re-wet it in warm water, and pull on it to the point of almost tearing the stitches.

    Line dry on the shade.

it can never see any kind of hot water nor any dryer ever again.

I always unshrink my S/O’s cotton tops. Wash it in cold water again and stretch it back. Hang to dry.

I do I all the time after he accidentally puts them

in the dryer. I’m talking about 100% cotton shirts. Is that what you have ?

Is the fabric woven or knit?

Has the shirt been dried in automatic dryer heat?

If woven, you are out of luck.

With knit, there is a chance that maybe it can be stretched a little larger.

However, the extent to which the shirt can be manipulated into, and will remain the 'unshrunken size' will depend on the quality of the cotton fibres, the density of the knit, and the number of seams in the garment.

Soak in vinegar. It helps relax the fibers. Rinse thoroughly. Do not put in high heat dryer.

I buy almost exclusively cotton clothing. I put clothes in dryer for a few minutes, ( like 2 minutes) then hang to dry. The few minutes of heat releases the wrinkles but is not long enough to shrink clothing.
