I recently cut down the tree and wanted to make it into seating for outdoor around the fire pit how would I cover the tree stump to make it look decorative and comfortable seating for my guests

Sand the top of a tree stump with sandpaper or a sand sponge until it's smooth and even.
Then varnish the top after wiping it down of course.
If you want velcro a pillow or cushion on it like you use on dining room chairs. The velcro will help it stay in place but you still remove it to wash it bring it inside when it rains.
It would be easier to make it a table with seating around it.
In the winter, put the loose chairs away and set a potted small pine on it, decorated like a Christmas tree.
Go onto Pinterest and check out the mosaics section. I have seen some pretty amazing trunk covering used for seating with pieces of tile or broken glass then easily grouted in. They are beautiful.
