How to find cost-effective carpet edge-binding?
I’m wanting to make a trendy boomerang area rugs, but the fabric edge-binding tape is so high priced. $80 for 50’. It needs to be thick to not telescope the backing texture when I glue it on. It should be about 1.5” wide, to get enough adhesion surface area, IMO. Thanks.

Ask the cost at carpet store to bind the carpet .
How about making your own? Choose your fabric from duck or an outdoor type...just something heavy. If it is an inch and a half showing on top portion of rug, you will want that equal amount underneath = 3". So you would want to cut strips of your fabric 5". Heat your iron according to fabric, fold over one inch and on either side of your fabric edge wrong side together, iron flat, then match edges and iron flat again, affiix how ever you choose. TADA , you did it, and it matches your decor. Good luck, drop a line with photo if you choose this method. You should be able to get five seventy two inch strips from only one yard of fabric. Or, purchase a binding tool (anywhere really) sew your edges right side together thread the tool and you are all set to iron flat then affix, tool has directions.
