It seems like all your have to do is disconnect all the propane equipment. Not sure what the inside of your pit looks like. Hopefully someone else will know. I don't use propane, we have natural gas for grill and other things.
This may not be as easy as it would seem. Inside a gas burning fireplace the area containing the burner and controls is not designed to withstand the heat of a glowing bed of wood coals. You may have to do extensive rebuilding of this area and definitely should seek some professional advice from someone who builds wood firepits, and probably the manufacturer or dealer who supplied the gas firepit you have now. The manufacturer will say no, because they didn't engineer their product for this use. No manufacturer will ever endorse any use they did not plan for.
I actually found videos on YouTube for turning a propane gas grill into a wood burning fire pit. I was looking to turn a gas grill into a gas fire pit. Never found anything on how to do that. My guess is it can't/shouldn't be done. Anyone know for sure?
Thanks! I knew I could rely on some good advice. Out to the curb!!!
