How do I keep squirrels from destroying my garden?
They will dig up the roots of my houseplants and leave them exposed. When they get into my container gardens, they will take a bite out of my tomatoes or maybe digs underneath my plants. Any helpful suggestions?

I use cayenne pepper powder sprinkled freely, then use Irish Spring bar soap grated all over the soil, too. It works well for me, I have rabbits, squirrels and chipmunks.
Hey Neecee,
Put broken ceramic pieces, flat stones, sea shells, andything they cannot dig up on the soil, plus this will help with the evaporation.
The bite and run is common in squirrels behavior no matter what you do, unless you have some way to put your plants out of their sight.
Hi Neecee. We live very near the DuPage River and woods. We see a lot of wildlife on our property. I have tried so many things to keep animals out of my vegetable garden, nothing worked for me until I tried shredded Irish Spring bars of soap. Before I plant my garden, I purchase the big pack (12 bars) of the soap. I shred all of the bars at one time. I store it in a five-gallon bucket with lid, in my shed. Once I put my plants in the ground, I spread out the shredded soap. I still see a few bites taken out of my tomatoes, but nothing compared to past years. Neecee, I recommend this soap method.
Hi Cindy. Thanks for your suggestion. Would the soap adversely impact the quality of the soil or the food/herbs that is being grown in the ground? If so, that would defeat my purpose. What do you think? Neecee
