Wthat can I do with an area that won't grow anything?
What is the best and least expensive way to cover an area of the front lawn? We have a huge tree in the front yard and a huge patch of dirt. Nothing grows in the dirt area. This is also subject to condo rules and regulations about fencing and other tripping obstacles.

Rock garden,build your soil up
Use shade grass. Works great but you need to amend the soil. We spread the sead then cover with Black Cow manure. All from Home depot. Keep moist to establish.
You could add a raised garden kit that’s easy to assemble to the area and plant it with flowers, veggies or hostas. I had an area under a tree where nothing would grow, and I can plant things there now. This year I have peas an impatien flowers.
