How can I fill this empty space in my yard?
I recently bought a home that originally had three large rhododendrons in the front of it. The center rhododendron died, and the previous owners removed it. I would like to somehow fill the empty space left by the missing plant, but I am not sure what would look good there. Does anyone have any suggestions?

How about some tall ornamental grasses. A cluster of three would look fabulous. :)
How about building a trellis with a pink climbing rose. Height should be half way between the top of the windows and the gable vent.

Make the trellis with some long extensions and bury them in the ground. Use a couple screws and screw into the siding just above the brick so it won't be wonky. Add wood spacers behind the trellis to take up the space before screwing in.
Speaking from personal experience, if you do not want those 2 rhodo bushes to entirely take over this space, and totally block all the light coming into your windows, it would be best to start pruning them now.
Rhodo branches can become very dense and hard to cut once they mature, and with the land sloping, it will be difficult to safely stand up on a level step stool reach the top of the bushes once they get too high. Go for quality, not quantity.
