Use a high gloss kitchen enamel paint. Any paint store will have what you need.
Slick as in shinny? Using high gloss oil based paint is best bet. If you can spray that would even be better at least the doors and drawer fronts.
First wash down with TSP and then sand the sheen off. Remove all the hardware, doors and drawers. Mark on back where they go. Prime with oil based primer, lightly sand again. Paint with oil based paint.
I used milk paint by General Finishes on mine and used their topcoat for a protective and shiny surface. The paint was quite easy to use and looks great! Good luck! http://momhomeguide.com/my-painted-kitchen-cabinets-a-year-later/
