Are they painted or varnished? First clean them with a good grease and grime cleaner. I clean mine with Murphy's wood soap or mild solution of lemon cleaner and Dawn dish soap. Then I wipe them dry with clean cloth and put a fine coating of furniture wax or oil on them to make them shiny. If yours are painted, clean and repaint. I also changed out my handles which made a big difference in the look.
Use a Heavy Duty Mr. Clean Sponge followed by Windex.
