How to paint kitchen cabinets?
We have the classic oak kitchen cabinets. I want to have that "farmhouse" feel. We have painted our walls a chocolate color. Re-purposed tin roofing for our back splash. Made vintage Mason jars into pendant lighting. Now it is time to update those cabinets. What is the best way to paint them and make them durable?

We have painted kitchen cabinets. Should the kickboards be the same color as the cabinets or the same color as the rooms baseboards?
Your end product depends on the prep!!!!!! I know many say that doesn't matter with certain paints....but believe me it matters!!!! You could strip it first. Or if you are just going to paint again, you could sand it smooth and primer it. Then I would steel wool or lightly sand again after that primer goes on before you add your paint coats to get that super smooth finish.
Since it is oak though you may want to fill the grain. Use a product like this to fill the oak grain: https://www.amazon.com/Aqua-Coat-Cabinet-Filler-Environmentally/dp/B07HQY2PF6/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_1?crid=20Q1AHZZ9XLBN&keywords=aqua+coat+grain+filler+cabinet&qid=1556719316&s=gateway&sprefix=aqua+coat+g%2Caps%2C122&sr=8-1-fkmrnull

ALSO...the paints are a huge factor for kitchens and bathrooms. You will want to use something super heavy duty for that kind of traffic! If you are putting the time in to prep them well and paint them well you will want a good paint that will last. Benjamin Moore ADVANCE!! $50 per gallon but it's so worth it!!! That paint is an excellent cabinet paint and you don't need a topcoat. I seriously just wipe it down when it gets dirty. If you can use a sprayer with this paint....even better. Anyway, hope this helps.

I agree with K. and I almost always use Benj. Moore paint. As a matter of fact I just washed some bead board in my kitchen I had painted maybe 30+ years ago with Benj. Moore oil paint. I scrubbed it with a rough sided kitchen sponge and Zote bar soap and it came out glistening.
This is how we painted our ask cabinets. It made such a big difference, good luck! https://thehoneycombhome.com/painting-kitchen-cabinets/
