Hi Terry. A 12 X 12 patio is 144 square feet. You should buy 144 pavers. I suggest buying a couple more for "just in case" . Good luck with your new patio.
144 if they're 12" x 12"
If the particular pavers you would like to purchase are each 1 sq ft then, yes, you will need 144. However, pavers come in different sizes and dimensions.
Remember though that to build a patio you will need to purchase more than just paving bricks. You will first need a load of crush to support the pavers, then polymeric sand to set the top layer in place.
To determine number of pavers per square foot, multiply the length by the width. In a 4-by-8-inch paver, you have 32 square inches. Divide 144 -- the number of square inches in a square foot, which you determine by multiplying 12 inches by 12 inches -- by the number of square inches in the paver.

Hi Terry, if you can find 12@x12@ squares you only need 144, less than that size you will need to do some more calculations,
