Tape off the areas you don't want painted gold. Buy some Rustoleum in a gold finish that you like and spray! When you're finished with the entire table, you could add gold leaf on top of the spray paint or in portions. You'll have to put a sealer over the gold leaf.
Get craft gold leaf sheets and apply.
Or use gold leaf paint and blend.
Best product I have found to add gold or silver to metal is called rub n buff. Easy to apply, long lasting, looks incredible. I have bought it at Michael 's craft store. I think you can get it online as well. Comes in a little tube. You don't need much, a little goes a long way!
Since its metal, I would use one of Rustoleum's gold paints that comes in severals shades, or you can use Gilder's paste which is like Rub n Buff.
