Maybe glue fabric to the inside.
Loosen it up a bit.
How about if you get some fuzzy tape and put on the under side
Wear like a bracelet and set on the last hole on the band. Or if possible, swap the band out for something else like leather which is more comfortable.
Glue a piece of non-fraying fleece to the underside of the band.
