Try insecticidal soap..Google it. I’m sure you’ll find a recipe. Hope it helps!
Hi Dotty. It could be caterpillars or slugs. If they are Hostas it is most likely slugs. You can put bowls of beer out at night. Check them in the morning and you should see them in the beer. Change the bowls out for 5 nights hopefully this will help.
Hi Dotty,
It depends what it is. Some bugs will go away when you simply wash plants with soapy water. For others it works best to hand pick the bugs then drop them in the soapy water. Some will react to a lid full of cheap beer laid into the dirt. It also might be deer or rabbits. There are plants that they will avoid that can be planted nearby to repel them by the scent. You can even use essential oils to repel some bugs/small animals away from your plants. The first step is to identify what is eating your plants and I know that's not always easy. I have something eating my petunia flowers. I think that it's probably rabbits because they only eat 1/2 - 3/4 of the flower, but I'm not sure and since they don't eat much, I'm going to leave them alone. Once you know what is eating your plant leaves, then you can make an informed decision about what is the best way to stop them. Wishing you the best.
take a couple of leaves to your local garden center and they can tell you 'who' is eating your leaves and then sell you the proper product to fix the problem (don't bother Home Depot or Lowes)
