I would suggest Sharon the above suggestions with kosher salt. It helps clean the blades and scrubs the funk.
unplug/make sure it's off & put on rubber gloves remove any lrg objects;add dawn dish soap1/2 cup and baking soda 1 cup to disposal then flush with boiling water while running; then place some lemon wedges into disposal and grind them up using some more boiling water to flush
If you are sure it is just clogged up and not something else, there may be a reset switch on your disposal. OR like ours, a little allen wrench came with it that you can turn the disposal with. But I would try using other methods before resorting to the mechanics. Have you googled the type/brand of disposal you have and see what they recommend? I believe Kyler Robbins homeguide web will tell you how to find the switch and how to use the little wrench.
