First correct the drainage problem. It will probably require re-grading the area. If you try putting bricks in a muddy area they will be unstable and a falling hazard.
Hello Boo, Zard is correct, you need to correct the drainage first, you can do that by redirecting the water via a drainage ditch, then then you can add fill and sand for a foundation to put the bricks on.

I agree both: You never get mud in a well drained area. And you will need some Sand.

You can place pavers to make a path. They can just be set into the dirt.
