Make them clean the room. They’ll care more if they have to clean up after themselves. No one likes to clean up pee or the smell of it.
When you are done cleaning, spray the floor with straight vinegar. Make sure the base area of the toilet is well covered, since that is where it may hold the odor since you can't clean under the toilet. Give any soft surfaces, like rugs a squirt, too, since they may track it onto any rugs. Vinegar is a great deodorizer and great antibacterial/antifungal agent. Let it dry naturally to be the most effective.
Is it ceramic tile with grout? I saw where someone used shaving cream on floor around toilet, let it sit, then wiped it up.
Alma: I had this problem too. Once I put a few Cherrios in the toilet --- as "targets" -- the problem was fixed!
