How to replace a patio door?
I need to change a patio door. I got one but is about 2 inches wider. Does not fit exactly. The guy I got for the job says it’s impossible. Is it? Do I have to get another door?
Thanks

I broke it when I was locked out because I needed to get in quickly. The hole where the knob used to be is pretty messed up as is the lock mechanism.
Yes, you do. Sorry. Door has to be the exact size of the old door, or smaller.
Yep. You need to get a door that will fit in the opening. Same size as the old one. Trimming one inch off each side would kind of look off.
Thanks but I hope that it will be a way. I just have to find it
The way would be to tear out the 2 x 6 framing around the door which would involve the siding and interior drywall and trim. Very expensive! Cheaper to buy another door.
