What type of paint should I use on bathroom wainscoting?
I've seen it in powder rooms, but they're far less humid. Would exterior paint help protect it?

If I use contact paper on bathroom counter, do I seal with a poly coat
If I use contact paper to cover my bathroom counter and backsplash, would it be best to put a poly coat over it? I wouldn't think midge podege would work.
I've used all sorts of wood boards, beadboard etc. in bathrooms including full bathrooms! I always prime and paint it with 2 coats of paint. Never an issue. If you think about it, drywall is as porous as wood, and it does fine with primer and paint... wood is certainly tougher to moisture than paper is... so as long a it's not on the shower walls where it's getting soaked it should be fine. (I've even treated the ceiling with wood planking in the shower and it was A-OK. Here is a super old post I wrote several years ago featuring part of the bathroom with wood on the ceiling.
I have it in my jacuzzi tub room, no ceiling on the wood and it's on the ceiling and walls. It still looks great.
If you want to keep it natural looking you could seal it with a poly. If you are going to paint, I would prime with Zinsser or Kilz Original and then paint with RustOleum Enamel Paint.
Thanks, folks. I feel a lot more confident.
Is the wooden wainscotting on the walls in the bathroom, or on the tub surround? How much exposure does it get to being splashed with water?
