I have seen where a lot of people put them in the bathtub with dryer sheets. It must work because it's very popular but I've never done it.

Put your oven rack in a large contractor's grade bag with 1/2 cup ammonia, tie the bag shut. You would want do this ourside and let it set overnight. Next day wearing plastic gloves, take them out of the bag and rinse well, let dry. It is the fumes that do the work and not the liquid.

For standard cleaning, use a soapy sponge and hot water to wipe the racks. For stubborn messes, soak oven racks in hot water, dish soap, and a couple scoops of baking soda. Let the racks soak in this mixture for 15 to 30 minutes before scrubbing clean with a soft sponge.
