My house is 100 years old and rock solid but it is bland. It needs someone's creative suggestions!
Painted furniture that is slightly distressed. Soft pinks, off white, with black. I like to search for inspiration pictures and then decorate a room from that. If you have a friend with an eye for decorating, reach out. They will be flattered and you will get some great ideas.
Denise....I think shabby chic is beautiful too! I would suggest you just Google and look at some of the many ideas they have. You can also go to Pinterest. I see a lot of Victorian in shabby chic but that's my thoughts. It is so feminine looking and little girl/baby rooms are so precious...soft and delicate when I see the idea incorporated. Good luck and I hope you find what you are looking for. You can also expect some great ideas from folks at Hometalk I believe.
I've done some decorating and remodeling a friends house in shabby chic. Lots of white distressed furniture. Fabrics are lots of cotton voille, lace, ribbon trims, tiny delicate flower prints. The thing I did that I loved the best, I got 2 large crystal lamps second hand, then I hot glued flowers all over the shade. I also got a mirror second hand and made it a shell mirror. I got a coffee table second hand and painted it a soft lime green to go with the large framed flower prints she had in a closet that I put behind the sofa. I did a plate wall behind the dining room table with delicate plates I got second-hand.
Hobby Lobby has some very cute affordable shabby chic decor. Also local flea markets!
I would browse the shabby chic style and see what colors and pieces of decor stick out to you
