Hi, Kelly!
Sweating copper pipe is extremely easy! Here is a step-by-step tutorial I use: http://www.planitdiy.com/how-to/plumbing/how-to-sweat-copper-pipes-fittings/ It is important to remember to heat the joint so that it "sucks" the solder into the joint and don't forget to use proper safety precautions! I hope this helps!
Hi Kelly,
Here's a tutorial that might help. Wishing you the best.

Plumber, it's not a job for a layman.
Very easy. Been doing it for decades. I suggest you try on some scrap first just to get the hang of it.
If you’ve not soldered anything before, then water lines (under 40-60 psi pressure) are not a good beginners’ project.
There’s a lot more to this than it looks.
You can save yourself $10 and go buy the pieces, but honestly a plumber buys them at Jobber’s Prices by the case and they’re in his/her truck.
Thank you Cheryl. How about something called Shark Bites?
