How can I repaint a PVC exterior door?
I believe that’s what it is, I know it’s not wood, but has grain like wood. Anyway, it was brown when I got it, but paint is scratching off and door underneath is white. I’m painting my home in shades of blue and would like the darker blue on the door. What would I use to strip the paint and repaint it?I’ll be doing this to both sides, and I live in SE Wisconsin, but interior will have be the shiny washable white. TIA

I'm not sure you can use stripper on vinyl think it would melt it. I'd lightly sand by hand to get any peeling off. Prime with a bonding primer rated for exterior. Paint with semi gloss latex exterior paint. On inside do the same but use your interior white paint. Have fun
It is probably a fiberglass coated door. Clean and remove major old paint and follow Kelli's suggestion.
Hi Lyn. Fiberglass doors are great! No warping and don't get hot like a metal door.

Thanks you guys for the suggestions, think I’ll go with Kelli’s suggestion of sanding, priming and painting.
Hi Lyn, hope this helps you out. Use acrylic, polyester, polyurethane, or epoxy resin paint on your fiberglass door. Try to pick a paint that matches the type of fiberglass for the best results. Do not use oil-based paints because these can damage the door. Fiberglass-friendly paints are often available in matte, neutral, and gloss finishes.
