Im not sure we know what project you are specifically asking about. Can you post a photo? I have used aerosol spray primer as well as paint on primers and it really depends on the project you’re doing which one to suggest. Both work equally well that’s just the type of project you’re doing may determine the applied route.
Kiltz for walls , paneling and such.

I use Zinsser BIN primer for pretty much everything. It's shellac-based and will stick to pretty much anything. But be warned it doesn't clean up with water, so use gloves and a disposable brush.
