I have also seen people hang a long rod at the top of the wall and have a full wall of curtain. They add furniture in front of it too and it looks nice.
You can use starch to stick the fabric to the wall like wallpaper. It will peel off easily when you're ready to remove it. But be warned it may transfer some color to the wall. I had to re-paint an apartment wall in college after removing starched fabric- but totally worth it!
