How do I clean a silver plated ice bucket?
It has a plastic/foam liner that cannot be removed. I use it for my cooking utensils in my kitchen and I love it but it needs to sparkle again.

Tarnished silver is no match for this aluminum foil “recipe.” Bring one liter of water, one tablespoon of baking soda, and one piece of aluminum foil to a boil. Drop silverware in the pot for 10 seconds (longer if it's very tarnished), then remove using kitchen tongs. Magic!
I recently tried hot water, a tinfoil lined pan with a good scoop of baking soda and it worked like a charm. I needed to use a little bit of baking soda paste and a rag to scrub some of the tougher spots off, but eventually it was super clean. Just be sure that the tray is silver and not silver plated. I've had plated pieces turn yellow with this method and there's no going back...
If you don't want to use silver polish you can set them in a large aluminum tray, sprinkle with baking soda then pour boiling water on it. This works for silver jewelry and silverware.
