Cut around damaged portion of vinyl. Remove section of vinyl then scrape/sand as much adhesive residue off of flooring under removed section. Once cleaned, apply adhesive and place a new section of vinyl that you have cut to the same size as the removed portion. place weights on the new section until adhesive has cured.
I usually use a template to cut a square around the damaged portion of flooring, then, use the same template to cut out a portion of new vinyl so that it fits perfectly. If the vinyl has a geometric or tiled pattern, I cut along the lines so that my seam is more hidden.
