How to Remove Urine Smell From Carpet
Berber is usually acrylic, not nylon and it has problems associated with heat-setting, if you’ve had it steam cleaned.
Another problem is the urine us in the pad and wicks back up.
I would buy a gallon of Natures Miracle and saturate the carpet & pad spots, let sit for 24 hours & then stack clean old towels on the spots and then really heavy books, bricks, blocks - whatever you have, on top the towels and soak up all that treated urine.
Since the enzymes need to live long enough to eat the urine, do not use this product until all the other products used on the carpet have dried.

If you have a dark coloured carpet then you could try tomato juice, it apparently is very effective at removing skunk smell too. I have used it on cat urine and it does work but will stain light colours.
Baking soda can be quite good but does not seem to put kitty off from repeat offending in the same spot.
The absolute best product to neutralise the smell and deal with the stain is Jackson Galaxy Stain and Odour Remover available from his website and other pet stores. If this is happening regularly then you do need to find the root if the problem, cats (and dogs) foul their homes when they are insecure, unsettled, ill, feeling threatened in their own territory...it is not a protest, it's a cry for help.
If its a cat fouling Jackson Galaxy and My Cat From Hell can help you, a dog might need less psychological help, some more training, or to be let out more often.
