Not on a well water
We use Iron Out spray on our rusty toilet and it works almost immediately. Available at lots of hardware stores.
Use a Pumice Stone, I know if you e never heard of this it may sound crazy to you, but trust me it works! :)
Vinegar soaked all night or all day in the bowl with make the stains easily removed. If it is built up, you may need more than one. We have the same problem here with our city water. I use 2 cups in the bowl over night of white vinegar. Hope this helps. Sometimes I have to use Mr Clean magic toilet bowl scrubber to finish it off. They are expensive so I start with the white vinegar.
Lysol Lime & Rust Remover Toilet Bowl cleaner, comes in a black squirt bottle. Scrub with Scrub Daddy or Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. If stubborn, use a scouring stick to scrub.
