What kind of paint or stain should I use on this dresser (pic)?
Found this Gimbel Bros NY dresser. Stripped the awful paint and sanded off the old finish but now I don’t know what to do with it. It’s going in a beach house with a lot of light blues and whites. I was thinking a white wash everywhere and teal tint on the drawer fronts. What sort of paint should I use to mix the white wash? Also any advice sanding the legs would be appreciated

You could use a bit of paint stripper on the legs. Paint it on with an old paint brush and let it sit for a bit. If you use Citristrip you can cover it saran wrap and let it sit for a few hours. Citristrip is less harsh than some traditional strippers. Less odor but not as fast. Wipe off as much paint as you can with a old rag moistened with mineral spirits. Wet some fine steel wool with the stripper and sand off more paint. Wear gloves! An old toothbrush with stripper on it can get into the crevices. Sand with smaller pieces of regular sandpaper which will mold itself around the curves and make a sharp folded edge to get into the crevices.
To strip the legs, apply stripper and after recommended time, remove stripper with a medium weight steel wool and an old tooth brush. It's tedious, but not difficult. You could always paint the bottom white and the top of it could be stained a dark walnut or mahogany and varnished with a satin varnish.
I used a wonderful blue stain from Home Depot on a light wood and the result is gorgeous! If you don't like it (it's very pale) you can always add some whitewash over it and either way would be great for a beach house.
Sorry I don't have a pic for you as my piece was a gift.
