that is dripping old grease onto my clean stove below.
Place aluminum foil covering the rack. Heat to 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Let cool. Most of the junk will come off on the foil.
We use a biodegradable spray on our grill. It cuts the grease and is safe for the environment. Spray off with the hose.
Grill brushes & scrapers are on summer clearance. I would use them, with 100% Dawn and scrub them in the driveway or a part of the yard that won’t mind the soap.
Blast clean both the brushes & the grille.
Then turn on the grill & burn off the rest.
I've never understood why people are obsessed with shiny grills. You take considerable time to properly season an iron skillet and use it often... why clean all that proper seasoning off your grill? I have always just put the grill over the hot fire and let it burn off the residue, then gently scrub it with a large wire brush.
Not only does it save the time and effort of cleaning the grill to a shiny metal, but without any extra oil or grease the meat doesn't stick. I've even burned oil to a brand new shiny grill to season it... meat never sticks.
The secret is that you have to get the grill on the fire, not over hot coals. You want the fire to burn away the residue.

Get some Easy Off oven cleaner, place the grill outside on some newspaper or cardboard and then spray. Let sit for a while and then use a pot scrubber or your BBQ brush to remove the residue and then hose off with the garden hose.
