How do I care for a large fern plant over the winter? It's been in a hanging planter outside all summer. I imagine it has to be brought indoors for the winter.

    2. Bring the fern inside and place it in a bright, sunny room where the temperature will stay between 50 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit. ...
    3. Water the fern once a week. ...
    4. Withhold fertilizer during the winter.

I bring mine in all the time, and they do shed leaves....a couple times a week, I shake them with my hands and then sweep up the little leaves that fall. Mine do well in front of a sunny window and I water once a week. Still look very nice in the spring before taking them outside again.
