Have you tried baking soda?
Baking soda or cream of tartar, either one will work very well. Each are just abrasive enough to get rid of the stain without harming the sink. Just a little bit with water to make a paste to rub on the stain, then rinse.

Use Barkeeper's friend or stainless steel cleaner.
Baking soda and vinegar works great
Bar Keeper's Friend is the way to go, its like comet with a non-bleach additive. Works great on sinks and toliets, and tubs.
