Hello Cheryl! I think the best paint for kitchen cabinets is an acrylic latex in an enamel finish. This particular paint is made for cabinets and trims. It is durable, it washes well, and it looks nice. You will need to sand lightly, clean and prime your kitchen cabinets before you paint with a separate primer if you are painting over cabinets with a clear poly like finish. Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore, and Behr all make good quality paint for your project!
Cheryl: Use a GOOD latex paint. Treat the cabinets gently for about a month -- to let the paint "cure."
Hi there! The cabinet refinishing kits you can purchase at the hardware store walk you step by step through the process, and have all the included supplies. I would check them out!

In my opinion Fusion Mineral Paint is the best. You can paint with little or no prep and the paint looks amazing!
