Denise....Chalk paint requires the least work but make sure your bench is clean before you begin. Good luck!
Hello Denise! You don't mention whether your bench has any finish now on it or not or whether it is for inside or outside use. If it is painted or stained you can use chalk paint and finish with a wax or poly. If the bench is to be used outside I would use an exterior marine spar varnish as a final coat. A waxed finish is fine for inside use but not outside. If the bench is to be used outside you can also repaint with an exterior house paint. You may have to do a bit of sanding before you paint with an exterior house paint depending on the shape your bench is in. If it is raw wood I would prime before I painted. Or if it is raw wood you can use a stain and then a clear finish.
Here is some inspiration... I used Fusion Mineral Paint on mine https://www.homeroad.net/2015/01/an-entry-bench-fusion-mineral-paint.html
