How can I add fabric to this tank top under the arms?
Does anyone know how to alter a tank top so it doesn't look tacky? If you notice in the pictures that the arm holes are very large so my bra shows. It's not the type of top I want to wear a cami under, since it's a tank. I really like to top but I really don't like the way it looks with my underwear showing. Any suggestions?

Sometimes the neckline is also large. I take it up on the shoulder seams and that helps a lot, plus leaves a large enough neckline.
Hi Victoria! I'm no seamstress but I would try making the arm holes a little smaller by sewing the bottom edges together. You could also sew a piece of fabric on the backside of the armhole so that shows instead of your bra.
Pull up the shoulder seams and stitch them high enough so it pulls the arm holes to the level you want.
Thanks for ALL the suggestions!

I had to alter several of my tank tops- lost too much weight, so I just took them in at both sides, from under arm to the bottom. then trimmed the seams a little. It does not show that way !
As I see it, the problem with taking up the armhole, either from the top or the bottom, is the bias strip around the armhole, and neck. I have a feeling that by pulling up the neckline (which also makes the garment shorter) or by sewing the bottom parts of the armholes together, and without taking off the bias strip, will make this top look badly altered...but I appreciate all your suggestions. I'm just not very handy when it comes to sewing. I was hoping for something much easier. I guess I was hoping for a miracle. haha Thanks again!
