We inherited this sewing machine from my mother-in-law and would love to restore it. Ideas? The wood siding has peeled up and the metal is rusted.
most metal washtubs have a galvanized coating. This may have some harmful effects ( in the smoke) until its burned off. That said the metal of the tub would likely not stand fire directly on it for very long. Some gravel/bricks/rocks would be best for the bottom. At this point I at the end of my knowledge. Others with more experience will likely have even more ideas.
