I did my daughters car. Used a White (not gel) toothpaste and a damp cloth. A dab of toothpaste on the cloth and rub in a circular motion a small area at a time. Keep the toothpaste moist. A separate wet cloth squeezing water as you rub. Wipe as you go along to see the progress. Once done put some paste wax over the lenses. Lasted close to year for her.
I've read that toothpaste works, Masie. Rub it on with a cloth and scrub. Rinse with warm water.
Go to the dollar store and Get a Hand held tube with a sponge attached to the end(Its used for washing dishes by hand.......(.You fill it with liquid detergent) Only you will fill it with Glass cleaner and Wash your headlights with it. It has a tight cap and you can keep it in your Vehicle......................
