How do I repair an outdoor faucet that isn't shutting off?
My outside faucet will not turn off so the person trying to fix it took the handle off and said I needed to replace something but he couldn't do that so does anyone know what you do after the handle is off to fix it back right

Hi Deborah, you can replace it with a self draining faucet that does not need to be turn on or off at the valve, for now you should turn it off at the shut off valve and replace it. This video should show you how and what you need to do it

Hi Deborah,
Hope he turned the water off at the main first and hasn't left you in a pond. Call a Plumber to do it for you, as he will have the knowledge and the tools to do the job quickly. If you want to know what to do if it happens again, Watch him or her or if you want to really do it yourself - buy a book that shows how to do plumbing jobs around the home.........
Cut the water off and replace the faucet. Consider a frost proof one that is self draining. It's the best decision we made.
Too late now, but for a temporary & quick fix you can screw the spray nozzle right to the faucet, You won't need a rush job from a plumber.
