Hello again Dusty,
If you want to make something yourself, start with a very strong bamboo/metal/timber pole. Roll tarpaulin onto it, Set it on cradles either side of the pool. Make strong rope pulls either side at top of tarpaulin for manual pulling. Fix at the far end of the pool something like boat cleats to secure the ropes. Good luck!

How large is the swimming pool? Is it above ground, or below ground?
Are you wanting to cover the pool only the days when you are not using it, or for longer time periods during certain seasons?
If you drain above ground pools all the way, in region 3s for example our winds will concave the pool and ruin it, here in Indiana we are told to drain below skimmer, put in winterizing products and cover with pool tarp, we put 2 heavy duty river tubes in and styrofoam in strainer area. Then we bought clamps made for out type of pool to go around edge. But they did not say what or why they wanted to cover. Was it for winter, to keep warm, or to keep things out when not using? And I did not see an answer regarding above or in ground pool.
