How can I waterproof a ceramic container?

You can try putting a marine spar varnish on it. Because it is a plastic water bottle none of your work may hold up for long.It will have to be very gently handwashed and dried.
Three coats of a spray water based polyurethane. Once dry it is waterproof. Clear spray paint would work.
Thank you. It is a vase for a small bunch of flowers. Cut bottle mid way, took the top part, with the cap, which will hold water, turned it upside down in the bottom section. Thank you for your suggestions. Ilene
