Consider "wet dusting" to pick up everything. I would seriously consider washing the ceiling and walls too. Use a vinegar water solution. For upholstered furniture, vacuum well.
Sometimes I use my leaf blower in my woodworking shop to do a major dust removal.
It's not quite that bad but thanks for the idea.
The leaf blower idea was funny, but...
First, use your vacuum cleaner with soft brush attachment for furniture and lamp shades, ceiling fans, books, draperies, etc.
If the walls are dusty, vacuum, then scrub, as needed.
Use vacuum attachments for draperies and stair carpets, baseboards and heat registers/cold air returns.
Using a lightly dampened very soft cloth, wipe all wood furniture, then immediately dry. Same for baseboards, window frames, picture frames, etc.
Vacuum carpets twice, moving furniture to cover all areas, or use crevice tool for hard to reach places, between upholstered furniture crevices, etc.
Follow with a good coat of furniture polish.
In the future, I'd canvas tarp (or similar) all upholstered furniture , bookcases, lamps, etc. Easier to shake out and launder covers than deep clean.
Olivia, thanks so much for the useful information. I appreciate it!
Hi Rube - We use this spray in conjunction with our swiffer and in addition to be a great duster spray, it helps to keep spiders and other buggies at a minimum. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly

I agree with all of Oliva's suggestions, so the only other thing I would advise is to always clean from the top down. So ceiling/light fixtures first, walls/drapes next, floors next, then furniture. Dust settles as it moves around. I do floors before furniture because it will invariably move dust around. I always dust with a microfiber cloth (love Norwex) slightly dampened. Haven't bought dust spray in years.
