How can I make an unique gutter?

We live in a log cabin and have a long water gutter on the corner of the front. We have been doing some updating on the outside. Does anyone have a fun/unique idea to finish off of the bottom of the drainage pipe?

  • Hi Peg,

Here are some great down spout ideas.

At our old house I was looking for something unique, because ours came down to my fairy garden. They were very pricey on line. So I bought a large plastic leaf from the dolor store and used it as a mold for my own cement one. I used an old mini blind slat (that I have a stash of) to make a frame and laid it on some plastic wrap. Then pour cement in ring and pressed the leaf on top. After dry peel all the plastic off and you have a leaf stone that I set under the spout.

What about a large chain and put a galvanized bucket with a hole, alternate another part of the chain with a bucket....then add a watering can bucket at the end to catch and dispense the water where you want it to exit. The Hole in the bucket theme.

Here in the PNW we tend to add a long drainage pipe buried in the ground to move the water away from the house.
